Biography

Dr. Kun Wu is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Intraoperative Imaging and Electrophysiology Program in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Yale University School of Medicine. He uses multimodal image-guided neuronavigation and electrophysiology to assist neurosurgeons in precisely localizing and defining lesions and functional areas of the brain in epilepsy surgery, brain tumor, neurovascular surgeries, and pediatric neurosurgery. Dr. Wu has long been interested in neuronal network and neuroplasticity. He studied epileptogenesis in animal models of epilepsy in the past. He collaborated with Dr. Hoffman in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale, studying the neural circuitry involved in persistent auditory hallucinations by using multimodality image-guided transcranial magnetic stimulation in patients with schizophrenia. The studies have shown promising treatment effects in controlling persistent voices. Dr. Wu is currently participating in the Yale Brain Atlas project supervised by Dr. Spencer and is also involved in the study of the relationship between brain activity and consciousness in Dr. Blumenfeld's laboratory.
