Biography

Justin is responsible for communications technology and strategy for Yale School of Medicine. Within the Office of Communications, he leads the teams that create the systems, infrastructure, and technology that powers the school’s websites (including medicine.yale.edu, publichealth.yale.edu, and YaleMedicine.org), as well as the team that provides support and editing services to internal stakeholders. He works to combine cutting-edge technology with business needs, continually refining tools, processes, and strategy to meet the ever-growing need for effective communications.

Today, leading-edge AI is integrated into the core of everything we do, from product development to business process and automation to facilitate collaboration across the school and university. Its goal is to create a more streamlined set of tools and a tighter alignment across the school's various communications mediums (web, print, digital and social), while cutting time to market and increasing efficiency.

Justin is also responsible for the business side of communications technology at YSM, managing offshore developers, hiring, and overseeing vendors, and managing the office’s budget, revenue, and resources.

Justin joined the School of Medicine’s Office of Communications as a founding member of its web group in 2006, initially as the project manager in charge of creating the school’s first standardized web template and then migrating more than 600 school organizations into the template. Today, the school is developing its fifth iteration of the common template (T5), shifting the school to an audience-centric communications model.

He led the charge for branding and web standardization at the school, purchasing and implementing the school’s first web content management system (SDL Tridion). He also spearheaded the effort to create the school’s dynamic content system, Beatrix, which includes more than 25,000 profiles, 28,000 calendar events, 26,000 news articles, and the ability for faculty to create standardized CVs. In addition, he created and introduced standardized digital signage to the school’s campus.

Justin lives in Seattle with his husband, Rudy, and their child, Felix. He is an avid CrossFitter and home renovator.
