Biography

Erica Ahlert, M.D. is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. After completing General Psychiatry training at Yale, she went on to complete fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and College Mental Health. She is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Yale Department of Psychiatry. She sits on the Advisory Committee of the Student Mental Health and Wellness Program at the Yale School of Medicine, and is a Green College Affiliate of Yale School of Medicine. She also sees patients in her private practice in New Haven, CT.

Clinical interests include issues of identity formation, separation/individuation, development across the life span, creative expression and blocks, adjustment to school and college, depression, anxiety, grief, attention/hyperactivity, impulse control, coping with medical illness, children of divorce, and pre/postnatal issues.

Academic interests include mentoring college, medical, and professional students; teaching the application of the biopsychosocial model throughout clinical medicine; and the role of psychotherapy in the care of individual patients.
