Biography

Gena Lennon-Gomez, MSW, LCSW, is a clinical social worker with the Adult Inpatient Palliative Care team. Gena received her undergraduate training at UCONN and Eastern Connecticut State University and completed her master's in social work at Springfield College. Gena began her career in hospice and palliative care, providing psychosocial support and counseling in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She came to Yale in 2010, supporting patients cared for by the Medicine, Surgery, and Nephrology teams, and subsequently joined the YNHH Palliative Care team in 2016. In her work supporting patients with advanced disease, Gena identified that an unmet need for many palliative care patients was access to legal services to assist with wills, estate planning, and guardianship issues. To fill this critical gap in services, Gena collaborated with the Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy at Yale Law School to establish the Palliative Care Medical-Legal Partnership to offer these services pro bono to patients in need.
