Biography

Mary L. Henwood joined Yale in 2017 and is the Senior Director and Director of Finance & Administration for the Department of Orthoapedics & Rehabilitation, Ophthalmology and surgical services.

A native of Connecticut, Henwood started her career in the the Pulp and Paper industry as the Regional Manager for Boise Cascade based in New York City. After completing her Master of Public Health at Columbia, she was the Executive Director for the American Cancer Society NYC Region. Henwood had the honor to serve on the Commission for Women's Issues under Mayor Mike Bloomberg. A career highlight was the passage of the Clean Indoor Air Act in 2009. This legislation was a tipping point for the nation and the world with de-normalizing indoor smoking. Henwood was Director of Women's and Children's Service Line at Stamford Hospital where she managed the Children's Specialty Center, Women's Center, Breast Health Center and the Mobile Wellness Center. Henwood's focus at Yale is to collaborate with leadership and faculty to support the strategic missions of the departments; to expand research and innovation, grow the clinical practice, and teach residents and fellows to be tomorrows leading experts.
