Syed Ali graduated from the City University of New York, Queens College in 2010. He then earned his doctoral degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2016. Subsequently, he joined at the laboratory of Dr. Leonard Kaczmarek as a post-doctoral fellow where he is currently investigating the molecular mechanism of sodium-activated potassium (Slack) channels and its interaction with other binding proteins.
